Hi! I’m Jan Ivey.  I was born in the small rural town of Hazen, nestled in the beautiful state of North Dakota.  However, I spent most of my childhood in the bustling city of Minot, ND, where the snowy winters and friendly community shaped my early years.  After graduating from high school, I embarked on my academic journey at Minot State University before finding my way to the University of Oklahoma in the charming town of Norman, Oklahoma. Go Boomer Sooners!  At OU, I delved into the world of education and earned my BS in Special Education with a focus on Learning

Disabilities.  Armed with a passion for helping students overcome challenges, I began my teaching career and spent 3 rewarding years in the classroom, nurturing young minds and fostering growth.

Eager to deepen my expertise and better serve my students, I pursued further education in the evenings at OU while continuing to teach.  There, I dedicated myself to studying literacy and graduated with an MS as a Reading Specialist.  Equipped with a deeper understanding of reading and language acquisition, I applied new strategies and enthusiasm to support and empower my students.  During my career, I was teacher of the year twice.

Outside of my professional life, I find immense joy in my role as a mother of 5, a grandmother of 13, and a great-grandmother of 10.  My family brings me endless love and happiness.  Together with my husband of 43 years and our faithful dog, Maizi, I now reside in the picturesque state of Missouri, where we enjoy the simple pleasures of nature and each other’s company.  Life has certainly been a journey, but each chapter has been filled with learning, growth, and the love of family.
